Pulsing Aura feels like the kind of update that actually changes how people play instead of just adding more cards to collect. The B3 booster is bringing in over 100 new cards, and you can already tell the conversation around deckbuilding is shifting. A lot of players are watching the card list, others are checking what it means for trading, and plenty will probably buy Pokemon TCG Pocket Items to get ready faster once the set goes live. What stands out straight away is that this expansion isn’t focused on one thing only. It touches collecting, battling, events, and even the way duplicate cards finally start to matter.
A better reason to keep duplicates
The new Gold Frame system might end up being one of the most appreciated changes in the whole patch. If you’ve been sitting on piles of extra copies, you won’t feel like they were wasted anymore. Once a card hits 10 duplicates, it unlocks a gold frame automatically, and that applies to cards you already own as well. So yeah, some players are going to log in and suddenly see a stack of upgrades waiting for them. There’s also a manual route through the updated Obtain Flair menu, which is a nice touch for people who like to finish sets their own way. The bigger deal, though, is trading. Gold-framed cards being tradable gives collectors something real to chase, and it makes social play feel less tacked on.Cards that could push the meta hard
The biggest noise around Pulsing Aura is clearly coming from the new ex Pokémon. Mega Lucario EX looks built to punish anything slow. With 190 HP and an attack that starts at 90 damage, then jumps by another 50 with one more Fighting Energy, it doesn’t take much to see where this is going. Mega Sceptile EX plays a different role. It’s bulkier, sits at 210 HP, and its attack lands for 130 while also poisoning the opposing Active Pokémon, even if you do have to toss a Grass Energy to use it. Then there’s Vaporeon EX, which may annoy people more than it knocks them out. Its ability forces a switch from the opponent’s Active once per turn, and that kind of disruption can mess with careful setups in a hurry.Support cards and event pressure
Trainer cards are getting just as much attention. Arena of Antiquity gives Fighting Pokémon 20 extra damage against opposing ex cards, and Korrina adds another 30 in the same matchup. Put those together and Fighting decks suddenly look a lot scarier than they did before. Field Blower also deserves a mention because it gives players a clean answer to Tools and Stadiums, which has been missing for a while. On top of that, the 1.5-year anniversary events are packed. Special Event 2026 offers a route to Zygarde ex through Solo battles, while Handy Card Collection missions bring in useful trainer rewards like May, Cyrus, and Giovanni. Community Week, emblem rewards, and Wonder Pick appearances for Treecko and Gallade make the schedule feel pretty full from day one.Why this expansion may stick
What makes Pulsing Aura interesting is that it doesn’t feel like a one-week hype patch. It gives competitive players stronger tools, gives collectors a better reward loop, and gives everyone a few more reasons to log in each day. That’s usually the sweet spot.
