Pounds of Flesh are the kind of material you don’t really think about until your build starts asking for better boss loot. Then, suddenly, you’re hunting them every night. In Diablo 4’s late game, this material matters because it opens the door to the Butcher’s Hoard, where some rare Diablo 4 Items can drop for players willing to deal with tougher fights. You won’t be farming it properly on a fresh character, though. Most players should be in Torment I or higher before they start caring about it, since the content tied to Pounds of Flesh hits harder than normal dungeons and punishes sloppy play.

Where Pounds of Flesh come from
The main source is Bloodied content. That means special Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes, and Lair Boss activities marked by Bloodied-style modifiers. These aren’t just regular runs with a new label slapped on them. Enemies scale above what you’d normally expect, and mistakes feel expensive. Bloodied Sigils push monsters one Torment tier higher than your current setting, while Blood-Soaked Sigils are rougher and feel closer to serious Pit pushing. If your defenses are thin, you’ll notice it fast. Still, these runs are worth doing because they give you a real shot at Pounds of Flesh, along with gear, crafting materials, and other endgame rewards.

      Getting the right sigils
Before you can farm the material, you need the keys that lead to it. Bloodied and Blood-Soaked Sigils can drop from enemies in Torment difficulty, so ordinary endgame farming still helps. Seasonal caches are another good source, especially if you’re already clearing bounty board tasks for extra rewards. Nightmare Dungeons, elite routes, and boss preparation loops can all feed into the same goal. Don’t rely on one method too hard. RNG can be annoying, and some sessions will feel dry. A better habit is to rotate activities, keep your sigils moving, and salvage or save the ones that match your build’s comfort level.

Other ways to build your stock
Kurast Undercity runs with a Tribute of Titans can also produce boss materials, including Pounds of Flesh. This route is useful if you don’t want to spam the same Bloodied activity over and over. The catch is simple: the loot pool is wider. You may walk away with keys or materials for bosses you weren’t planning to fight. That’s not useless, of course. A lot of players like this method because it keeps farming from feeling stale and adds value even when Pounds of Flesh don’t show up in big amounts. If you’re targeting the Butcher’s Hoard only, Bloodied runs are usually more direct.

      Using them without wasting runs
Once you’ve collected enough Pounds of Flesh, take them to The Broiler in Gea Kul to access the Butcher’s Hoard. This isn’t the random Butcher that jumps you in a dungeon and ruins your mood. This version is built as a proper boss encounter, with heavier pressure and less room for panic dodging. Go in with capped resistances where possible, reliable healing, crowd control answers, and enough single-target damage to keep the fight from dragging. The rewards can be build-changing, but farming smart matters too. Keep extra sigils, sell unwanted drops, and use your Diablo IV Gold carefully for upgrades, rerolls, and repairs so each attempt feels like progress rather than a gamble.
